Why is a single reception path useful?
It reduces the number of places the team must inspect every morning. The team can keep its folders, spreadsheet or existing tracking method while cases arrive in a consistent location.
What must be checked during setup?
Access rights, available case types, accessible files, detection method, destination folders and printing are checked with the laboratory. This avoids promising a workflow that its actual access does not allow.
What does the workstation approach change?
Files are organised in the laboratory’s local or network folders. For some platforms, technical transit through the connection server is required, without storing cases there.
| Step | Manual or remote approach | Laboratory workstation approach |
|---|---|---|
| Medit Link | Configured case reception | Rights and accessible files confirmed during setup |
| DS Core | Configured case reception | Rights and accessible files confirmed during setup |
| Shining 3D | Configured case reception | Rights and accessible files confirmed during setup |
| 3Disc | Practice scanners: Heron IOS (3DISC) | How the case reaches the laboratory: 3DISC cloud platform; the practice validates and sends the case to the laboratory with attachments and comments. Point to note: STL, PLY or OBJ exports, compatible with open CAD software. |
According to your laboratory
Small laboratory
Start with one workstation, one source and a simple destination folder. The goal is to make the first reception step predictable, not to change every production habit.
Growing laboratory
Agree on naming, destination folders and how incomplete cases are treated. Automation serves those rules; it does not replace them.
Several sites
Use a designated reception workstation. The team can access the folders through the laboratory network according to its own infrastructure and permissions.
